The Career Institute™ 2022 Career Optimism Index®
The 2022 economy has continued to experience the trend of the “Great Resignation,” which the University of Phoenix Career Institute® 2022 Career Optimism Index® highlights. The Index is a comprehensive study created to address the broad and systemic barriers that impede career advancement through research-based solutions and productive partnerships that aim to remove the career obstacles that many U.S. workers face.
The 2022 Career Optimism Index® observed that approximately one in three U.S. workers stated they were likely to leave their current employment without having another job offer. The index also recorded that despite overall optimism remaining stable, workers lack confidence in their skills and believe employers are failing to provide upskilling opportunities, resulting in workers feeling replaceable.
Employers also took part in the 2022 study, and the findings showed a significant disconnect in certain areas between workers and employers. Over 68 percent of U.S. employees would be more likely to remain in their jobs if they had access to opportunities to upskill in their workplace. Unfortunately, employers recorded various challenges that are preventing them from investing in employee learning and development.
Newly Launched Career Support Hub Provides Access to Job Tools
To support its active students and graduates, University of Phoenix launched its job resources hub. With a variety of free resources to choose from, students can access the necessary tools to help them reach their career goals.
Experienced career advisors at the University developed the job resources and tools, which provide detailed guidance on possible scenarios that students may find themselves in, such as career changer, experienced graduate, returner and new graduate. The newly launched hub provides a self-service suite of resources with templates to download and complete.
These resources include example resumes, CVs and cover letters to model and step-by-step guidance for help in the job application process. Aligning with University of Phoenix’s commitment to providing all individuals with equal access to information, the job resources and tools hub includes accessibility features such as properly tagged PDFs and alt text for images.
Jessica Roper, director of Career Services, commented: “We built the job resources page because our career advisors saw a need for our students and alumni to have models of resumes that helped their qualifications be more immediately visible to recruiters and job applicant systems. Our career advisors took a hands-on approach to creating the examples and templates.”
